✨ New podcast ✨ by @joanneavison 🎤 featuring @arhanta.yoga ’s co-founders @ramjain.official and @kalyanihauswirthjain 🙏🏻

Between us all, we have decades of experience teaching yoga in a variety of ways. Indeed, we could easily have talked (for hours) about yoga as a means to remove pain and improve performance! We know it can play a meaningful role in both and this truth lies at the centre of our respective work. In this conversation, we shine a spotlight on Education in the yoga field and the importance of including both the science and the senses, the form and the feel of yoga as a somatic experience. We talk about this through the lens of Fascia and why it is so essential to understand in any yoga practice.

We cannot reduce that somatic sense to scientific data – however, we can use it wisely to help us find the most appropriate wisdom behind our work; respecting the scientific research that supports it. That is a way to honour the ancient wisdom behind Yoga – which Ram and Kalyani understand so deeply. It is a lovely chat and Ram asked some challenging and valuable questions later on about fascia. It is always a delight to discover we are all coming from similar intentions to make sense of yoga - and make a difference - for all stages of learning and teaching in the field. Always an honour!

About me @ramjain.official 🧘🏽 I am thankful for the gift of yoga in my life. I've been helping people transform their lives with the science, practice, and principles of yoga for over two decades.

My yoga journey began aged eight at a Vedic school in India. I was trained in yoga asana in the tradition of Swami Sivananda by traditional teachers from his lineage. I have a solid foundation in scriptures, including Vedas, Upanishads, Bhagavad Gita, and Yoga Sutras (to name a few).

Growing up in India, I assisted many yoga teachers. I always felt something was missing in how yoga teachers were teaching. It is one thing to have a good self-practice and another to have the skills to help others.

I made it my mission to create a new global standard for yoga teacher trainings.

▫️To help practitioners like you deepen your knowledge of yoga.
▫️To provide a unique blend of traditional and modern approaches.
▫️To give you the practical skills essential to train and teach efficiently.

I see yoga as a way to master the five senses, so I named the ashram 'Arhanta Yoga,' the yoga to master the five senses!

At Arhanta, we don't just teach yoga. We teach you how to reach your potential, deepen your knowledge, build your confidence, and take charge of your life. 🙏🏽

[GUIDED PRACTICE LINK IN BIO] Do you practice Vinyasa Yoga and have you ever wondered what is Vinyasa Yoga and/or how it developed?

The term vinyasa is a composition of two words. Nyasa has several meanings like “to place”, “special order”, “attention”; “and vi, which means “specially”.

Vinyasa has many meanings in the Sanskrit language, however, in the context of yoga, Vinyasa can be best interpreted as: "special way ", "special order", or "with attention". This practice is often interpreted with a theme or purpose consisting of poses linked and associated together.

Rather than focusing on “getting into the posture” and then breathing, in Vinyasa Yoga, the aim is to keep the deep breathing and body consciousness consistent throughout all movements during the practice.

Do you desire to deepen your knowledge and expertise in Vinyasa Yoga?

Practice a complete and guided Vinyasa Yoga practice with Kalyani Hauswirth-Jain 🙏🏼

Take a moment to think about a place that brings you peace, joy, or comfort. Maybe that place is just down the road from you or somewhere else in the world. In times when you need it, close your eyes and go there. Feel what it feels like to be there. We hope you find a place that offers the serenity that so many students found during their training in India.

You may find yourself more and more comfortable in gentle solitude, as you turn inward.

**This picture was taken at the Arhanta Yoga Ashram Near Khajuraho, India which occupies over 17 acres and is surrounded by beautiful serene nature, hills, forests, endless fields, and meadows. The ancient city of Khajuraho is also known as the City of Temples.

Karmic bonds present us with a variety of relationships in each life. Every relationship we engage in is in fact a duty (dharma). Some of these relationships (duties) we get by birth. Others we choose.

Yoga philosophy teaches us that doing our duty to the best of our capacities is essentially what we must do to balance karma. Relationships are duties that we get due to our karmic accounts and identifying your duty in your relationships helps you make the right choices in how you engage in the relationship.

In different phases of life, we will have different close relationships with people around you. In our youth, most of us have a strong karmic bond with our mother. She is in the first circle of our karmic net. As we grow older we might have balanced most of the karma between with our mother and now enter a close relationship with for example our husband,  who earlier was a distant friend. Our mother moves to the farther circle of the karmic net and our husband moves into the closest circle, as we now have to balance more karma with him.

This is how all the relationships in our lives evolve and keep evolving over lifetimes.

Important to remember is that:

* all relationships must be a two-way street, and
* there are priorities in your duties.

Your first duty is toward your own growth. An abusive relationship must not be maintained, just because you believe it's your duty to do so. A one-sided relationship neither. Sometimes a person in your life has such a destructive effect on you that you must cut them loose and trust that your karma will be balanced in another life.

Sometimes people ask if soulmates exist. Yes, they do. But not in the romantic sense that most people understand the concept of soulmates. All the people in our lives are soulmates, as our souls are bound to each other by past karma.

If your keen to learn more about karma, read our blog “Karma and Dharma: Are You Doing It Right?” 🙏🏻

Did you know 1 hour of yogic sleep is equivalent to 3 hours of regular sleep? During Yoga Nidra, the body goes into a mode of deep relaxation. Regular practice helps the body to go into even deeper states of healing and rejuvenation. During this practice the body functions become minimal, metabolism slows down and the hormonal function increases. Therefore, the body gets the chance to begin the repair activity and expel the toxins out of the system.

Due to this, the body starts to conserve energy. This process removes fatigue and rejuvenates the brain. After the session, you will be fresh and energized as though you have taken a power nap!

Head to our link in bio if you'd like to learn about and experience Yoga Nidra for yourself 😌
