Our mind is constantly busy mulling over future an Our mind is constantly busy mulling over future and past actions; we are exhausted by thinking about what we could have done or will do.

This disconnection with the present often prevents us from truly practicing yoga and therefore often reduces the discipline of yoga to mere physical exercise.

Restorative Yoga allows us to truly stop. Thanks to the use of supports, we are able to completely relax every cell of our body.

Read our newest blog, by Lucia Seglie to learn more about Restorative Yoga, its benefits as well as tips on how to practice.

There are moments and periods in life when we migh There are moments and periods in life when we might feel that we have lost all our freedom. We feel overwhelmed and stressed out. There seem to be too many demands on us and too many roles we need to fulfill.

Our freedom does not lie in being able to choose everything in our lives at every moment (that is impossible) but in being able to choose how we respond. In our response lies our power and eventually also our growth toward the reality that we wish for ourselves.

Every time that we do not lash out in frustration but instead ask ourselves what we need at this moment and communicate that lovingly, we grow ourselves and our relationships with our child, our spouse, our friend, our parent, our co-worker or neighbour....

General lower back pain is experienced differently General lower back pain is experienced differently from person to person. But it is mostly a constant, disturbing factor in their life that doesn’t seem to have a clear medical cause.

The causes for chronic lower back pain are complex and can be influenced by many factors such as:

- postural patterns,
- muscular tension,
- mental stress,
- lack of exercise or too much exercise,
- job requirements, and
- old injuries

Most back pain starts with postural distortions, which results in an imbalance in the fascia and muscle tissues. Postural distortions are often caused by repetitive movements or habitual patterns such as extensive sitting or slouching. Because the activity is repeated so often the body naturally develops imbalances in strength and flexibility all around the spine and pelvis.

Follow the link in our bio to a 30-minute Hatha Yoga Practice with Kalyani that works on restoring the muscular balance around your spinal column.

Practicing and teaching Yin Yoga are two entirely different pairs of shoes.

Sometimes people think that because Yin Yoga is a very slow-moving yoga style, it is easy to teach. Or they ask us that because they practice Yin Yoga themselves, maybe we can give them some tips on how to teach Yin Yoga?

Even though Yin Yoga is a passive and slow style, it is important that as a teacher you follow a proper education.

It often seems easier to tune out and distract our It often seems easier to tune out and distract ourselves when we have to deal with stress and worry. And this approach will give temporary relief. But it is a superficial fix and short-lived.

Yoga on the other hand will help you find a sense of peace and faith that carries on even after the practice. Kalyani's tip: Decided to roll out your mat and practice for just 15 minutes a day and take it from there. Many ambitions to start up or maintain a regular practice fail due to too high goals. Starting a new habit is the easiest, and most sustainable, if you start small.
According to the yogic philosophy, the whole unive According to the yogic philosophy, the whole universe can be divided into 2 main categories: Prakriti (Maya or Illusion) and Purusha (Reality).

According to this philosophy everything which is changeable, which is not infinite, is part of Prakriti.

Purusha on the other hand is the only reality, it is the universe’s only unchangeable element: the Self, the soul.

Everything within Prakriti, the illusionary world, consists of three Gunas (qualities). These three qualities are present in all objects in various degrees, one quality is always more present or dominant than the others.

The three Gunas are Sattva (purity), Rajas (activity), and Tamas (darkness, destruction). Gunas are present in everything; humans, food, animate and innate objects.

Can we influence the three Gunas?
